WELCOME to The hour of 3AM
-
(2018 - 2022)
Founded in 2018 by Kyle Driggs and Andrea Murillo, 3AM Theatre was born from a shared fascination of physical storytelling, innovative stage design, and the lighting states found in early morning hours. Drawing on their shared backgrounds in contemporary circus and modern dance, they began exploring how these disciplines could dissolve boundaries and create transformative experiences.Their journey began in Philadelphia, PA, where initial rehearsals and lighting experiments shaped a vision of performance that defies genre. Their first work, The Graveyard Slot, drew inspiration from overlooked late-night television- an often forgotten hour of programming that, for them, became a portal into another state of mind and a point of focus they sought to bring to life on stage. Following their first piece, 3AM began developing Eventide, which became the company’s central focus for the next four years. The piece evolved through multiple iterations and toured nationally and internationally, with performances in Chicago, Guadalajara, Philadelphia, and Maine.

(2023 - 2024)
In 2023, 3AM Theatre inaugurated a new venue in Queens, establishing a home base for its creative work, providing a home for rehearsals, residencies, and in-house productions, and opening its doors to visiting artists and local audiences. This shift transformed 3AM from a touring ensemble into a hybrid company and venue. With a solid base in New York City and its eye on future national and international productions, 3AM began to reimagine what an American circus and dance company could be.In 2024, 3AM welcomed Logan Kerr and Book Kennison into its core team, further strengthening the company’s creative and production capacity. The next year was full of original creations and performances, including the development and debut of two major in-house projects, First Light and W3AM.

(2025 - Present)
In September 2025, 3AM expanded its facilities with the opening of a new studio directly adjacent to its existing venue. Dedicated to classes, workshops, and professional development, the space is designed to broaden opportunities for artistic practice and exchange. Together, the theatre and studio establish a strong foundation for collaboration and community in Queens, advancing an ecosystem where contemporary circus, dance, and theatre can continue to evolve together.Throughout 2026, 3AM will continue developing its original production, First Light, debut The Relay Room, a dedicated technical hub for designers working within the performing arts and premiere Hologram, a new collaboration with Jay Gilligan and Parallel Exit at the Hupstate Circus Festival.
Artistic Director
Kyle Driggs is a circus artist, director, lighting designer, and the founder and Artistic Director of 3AM Theatre. A graduate of the École Nationale de Cirque de Montréal, Kyle has built an international career through a distinctive fusion of juggling, movement, physical theater, and immersive visual design, creating work that balances technical precision with contemporary theatrical storytelling.
As a performer, his credits include Paramour with Cirque du Soleil on Broadway, Queen of the Night with The 7 Fingers, performances with Phish at Madison Square Garden, Big Apple Circus, Circus Roncalli, and appearances at festivals and theaters around the world. His work spans large-scale commercial productions alongside intimate experimental collaborations, continually exploring new possibilities for contemporary circus.
Since founding 3AM Theatre in 2018, Kyle's primary artistic focus has shifted toward creating original multidisciplinary productions, fostering emerging artists, and building sustainable spaces for experimentation and performance. Under his direction, 3AM has grown from an independent performance company into a year-round venue supporting original creations, residencies, and cross-disciplinary collaborations while producing new touring works that merge circus, dance, theater, and innovative lighting design.
“3AM’s elegant set enhances each segment of Eventide, working in the place of spoken dialogue to guide the audience through the couple’s journey, welcoming us into their world.”
Blair Krassen, Broad Street Review
“The joyful creativity of the show is born from the eclectic backgrounds of its creators… whose diverse careers in theatrical circus have brought them across the world.”
Theo Boguszewski, The Dance Enthusiast
