the great unknown

First Light was born out of a series of week-long creations in our home studio in Queens. Over the course of 2025, we developed the sonic palette, the iconic images, and the major themes which comprise the piece today. It is a show about wild ambition and the grief that is left in its wake; about the attempt to make contact with the greatest mysteries and the long reckoning we must endure when we do.

This piece is inextricably bound to the artists on stage, whose time, talents, and trust were essential to its creation. It is difficult not to draw a link between the impossible challenge depicted in First Light with the impossible challenge of making new circus work in New York City, and we are so grateful to our partners at CANY and most of all to our audiences for following us on this uncharted path.
