3AM Theatre is an artist-run venue in Queens where new work is created, rehearsed, performed, and refined.
We produce original productions, host residencies, present guest artists, and offer one of New York City's most flexible theatrical spaces.
Artists choose 3AM because it is a venue built by working performers who understand the challenges of developing and presenting new work. With extensive producing experience and presenting live performance, we understand what it takes to bring a project from load-in to final curtain. Our hands-on approach makes the rental and production process straightforward, flexible, and supportive, so artists can focus on the work.
Our goal is to redefine what it feels like to produce work in New York. We believe artists deserve more than a rental, they deserve collaborators. We foster a professional and welcoming environment where renters have the time, support, and technical resources to realize ambitious ideas. As artists ourselves, we understand the financial and logistical challenges of creating work and are committed to making the process more sustainable, collaborative, and ultimately more rewarding.
We rent the theatre in weeklong blocks, giving artists the time to make the venue their own. A typical week begins with load-in and installation on Monday, followed by rehearsal on Tuesday, technical rehearsals Wednesday and a dress rehearsal Thursday, performances Friday and Saturday, and strike on Sunday. This structure allows sets, equipment, and technical elements to remain in place throughout the week, creating a calmer production environment and making more ambitious design ideas possible. We also often provide lighting, sound, projection, carpentry, and other design services to help bring each project to life.
Weekend and single-night buyouts are occasionally available depending on our schedule, and our adjacent studio can also be added as a lobby, rehearsal, or additional event space.

Rentals
The theatre features a full theatrical lighting system, professional sound, projection capabilities, flexible seating and staging configurations, and infrastructure for circus and multidisciplinary performance. Technical specifications, equipment lists, and additional production information are available upon request.
TECHNICAL
We welcome proposals from artists and companies developing work across circus, dance, theatre, music, and multidisciplinary performance. We are especially interested in projects that benefit from an intimate, technically flexible environment and artists looking to thoughtfully integrate design into their work.
Submissions can range from early-stage development and residencies to fully realized productions seeking a New York performance home.
