First Light

First Light is a curated performance series that brings contemporary circus into direct dialogue with its audience. During a weeklong residency, a rotating ensemble collaboratively develops and refines new material, culminating in an evening that blends crafted repertoire with live improvisation. Conceived as an artistic laboratory, the series champions experimental voices while expanding access to circus as a living, evolving art form.

In 2025, 3AM Theatre presented four editions of First Light, each serving as a platform for artistic research and collaboration. The work developed through these residencies ultimately evolved into a full-scale touring production, demonstrating the series' role as an incubator for ambitious new contemporary circus works.
